Well it's been service (6 year, having done 61,000 miles) and MOT day today.
Total bill £425, including two new wiper blades. No advisories. As I know the servicing garage staff quite well now, I asked for an honest and full assessment of the car. "Nowt up wi that" was the reply. The garage are a fully authorised LR agent, but not a main stealer, and many years experience with them (my Dad's had LR products since day one) leads me to believe that they know what they are on about.
We'll hang on to it for a bit longer.

That's not bad at all. I had major discussion/barny with SWMBO re getting rid of my car but decided for what I want to do in it there is nothing better. I'll put up with the foibles and I know it's expensive but it's cheaper than buying a new(ish) car (wouldn't be LR). Also going to try and use it more, though getting 20 mpg locally when Jazz gets 40mpg on petrol is a bit painful.
2nd beer (well cider SWMBO doesn't like) now going down!

DSL,
I think lack of use is a problem with mine. Like you, we have an economical runabout (small diesel = 60 +/-). I can't complain about the economy of the Discovery though, as it's averaged just over 27 in my ownership (brim to brim each time, not the small amusing thing between the speedo and tacho), which includes towing a 1500 kg caravan not infrequently. (Towing 20/21 mark, solo has been consistently around 30 - max 35). Mind you, whilst I do drive to the speed limits, I'm careful how I get there, but that's just my driving style.
In my case it's almost my much prettier other half that doesn't want rid. She likes it - especially in the passenger's seat!
