Afraid the 50th anniversary Defender is (IMHO) a much over rated and over priced piece of kit. The V8 is great at producing lots of noise and consuming lots of fuel, but sadly it generates very little on road go. Offroad it is very sweet, but the TD5 is really not far behind the V8. Take a standard Td5 Defender and buy any accessories that are fitted to the Aniversary model that you want, pocket the change and get far lower running costs.

Go for it!
Yes it's overpriced, yes, not all them are in good shape, yes, the transfer box ratio is just awful (you know, it does not run as if it had a v8 under the bonnet), but.. there's that sound, that smooth transmission, and the rarity.

I would go for it, but i would shorten transfer box ratios to easen the engine's and transmission life.
