How do I disable single point entry?

Any ideas - how do I disable single point entry (the feature where one press of the remote unlocks ONLY the driver's door)? My 04 LR3 did not have this but my 07 LR3 does.

(I hate these nanny features. The "press OK to navigate" thing is a dumb lawyer feature. All the beeps are stupid. I am forced to mount a separate additional TomTom GPS in the car to get by the nannying that disallows programming while driving; now this single point entry thing is REALLY a total pain!)

I presume I am just missing it in the manual - blame the manual's index. But presumably one of you knows how it's disabled?

Cheers
Mike

Yes. Remember, it's my second one. But when I press to open the doors, I mean open the doors - not have to press the same switch again to achieve what I wanted inthe first place. And since my previous LR3 did this just fine, I assume I can set it in the new one too - just don't know how.

And yes, I do read the manual. I guess I missed it.

Long time no hear! I hope your new one is better than your last one. I'm not sure how you disable SPE, I have it enabled on my car. I am sure I've seen a reference to it in the manual though.

sat nav on the move is available, do a search on some recent posts on the subject. There is a firmware upgrade to enable it. You still have to agree to the terms thoug on each start up. I'm used to it now though.

Page 46, last section, press and hold lock and unlock for 3 seconds. You'll need to do it on both fobs. Repeat to reverse.

How to disable/enable this option is on page 29 of the 2006 user manual.

Quote:
Single-point entry
This is a personal security feature, which
enables only the driver's door to be unlocked,
leaving the other doors in a locked state.
Single-point entry can be disabled on individual
remote control keys by pressing and holding
the lock and unlock buttons together for three
seconds.
All doors will now unlock with a single press.
Repeating the procedure will re-enable single
point entry.
Each time single-point entry is enabled or
disabled, the vehicle will lock then unlock into
the selected mode.

Fantastic.

It's not in the US/Canada manual as far as I can tell. I'll go try it now, see if it works.

BTW - the new one is a definite upgrade from t eold one. Same V8 HSE, but a lot of little things fixed. Like I can now display a clock in the dash!

Yes - it works. Many thanks, guys. Well done.

As said, they have left this out of the US/Canada book (the lawyers again, I imagine?) Smile

I wonder what other features I am not being told about?

Sorry Mike, I know this is your second one but looking at all your posts about it thus far...you seemed a little displeased ....so I was just checking Very Happy

Glad you got it sorted Wink

Oh, clearly not displeased about the vehicle (evidently, or I would not have gotten another one)!

That said, this makes the little things (like, why not tell Canadians and Americans how to unlock the car all at once? Are we not to be trusted with that secret knowledge?) even more noteworthy.

And the big one: why no diesel engine? I would have bought a Mercedes ML320CDI this time (even though it is an inferior vehicle to the LR3) purely because of the engine. But there isn't a single one to be had in Canada, so I am happily giving LR another two years. But in two years, when my lease is up, there had better be a Diesel engine here!

(Yes, the V8 petrol engine is fine - but I do almost 30,000km a year and the premium gas I need to put in is quite expensive - and worse, most of my driving is around town. I could feed a small village with this gas I waste - I use around 19l/100km!)

Anyway, I'd like to go for a drive now but I can't think of any excuse,. And it's minus 4 again. Groan. Now that IS reason for serious complaint!

Cheers
Mike

Mike, I am not 100% sure on this but I think the reason you don't have the diesel engine in North America is the high sulphur content in your diesel. The diesel in Europe has much lower sulphur content. I lived in Newfoundland for 2 years and missed a Euro diesel engine. So to sum up, due to your high sulphur fuel you are restricted to tractor like diesel engines.... ask your local gas stations to get better diesel Shocked

Not anymore! Since last year, US and Canada diesel went from 500 ppm sulfur to 15 ppm. So as of last year, ordinary "European" diesel engines work fine here.

Even though this was years in coming, it seems to have caught LR napping.
