I dont see any fault codes on my OBD II scanner?

Hi,

I just hooked my OBD II scanner on my LR Disco3. I can see Temp, speed, RPM moving. When I look at fault codes I see none.

On my dash is the brake light burning (had my rear brake pads changed but light stays on).
Last week I had a gearbox problem.

So I should at least see thos problems.

Is ther a special string I have to send to read the codes?

Regards

Quirin

most obd2 scanners will only read the egine ECU ...not the others modules in a d3

Hi Wiggs

Didn't expect an answer that soon Laughing

Can you pinpoint me to the right software to do so?

Is there another way I can communicate with the unit? In my OBD II software I can send a string trough OBD II. I just need to know what string Rolling Eyes

Regards

Quirin

If you want to look at all modules in the D3 you need a Faultmate MSV2 extreme (http://www.blackbox-solutions.com/products.html) or equivalent.

As for the brake light, you need to replace the brake wear sensor (left front wheel and right rear wheel). Most likely you only need one - take them out of the pads and see which one is ground down. Once the sensors are replaced, disconnecting the battery should reset the light.

There's no need to disconnect the battery after replacing brake wear sensors

As long as you keep your foot on the brake, the light will be out too. Laughing

If the sensor gets worn the connection is broken, so the light and the message will come on your instrument panel. If you use your brakes, the brake disc will make that connection so the warning goes away.
