Having said the above, I would love to go on a road trip from Southern Spain through some of the North African countries, however sadly I wouldn’t trust the D3 or D4 not to let me down, if I were ever do this I would buy a Toyota Land Cruiser, which I suppose defeats the object of owning a D3/4 with its incredible off-road capabilities.

Been to Morocco via Spain and back twice in D3's ....all came back Thumbs Up

Guernsey 2016 Discovery 4 3.0 SDV6 Landmark LE Auto Santorini BlackDiscovery 4

Think you should buy a car to make you happy, all are money pits!

Last year went for the 2 yr old Merc E280 estate, from RRS, 10 mpg more sounded like a good wise choice with car tax half of a RRS and D4 and slightly cheaper insurance with more performance.

Cost me £8000 in 7 months of depreciation covering 8,000 miles. Though a nice car an annoying non locatable rattle drove me nuts and then it started to smell of fumes inside making the wife nd kids feel sick on longer journeys. i really tried to love it, but couldn't even like it, so it had to go

If had kept the realiable Sport would of cost me around £1,500 extraa in depreciation and cost a bit more in fuel but not £6,500 worth so it all turned out to be a huge false economy.

Prior to this had had 5 various discos and a Sport with no real problems over 13 years.

If you have a good Landrover keep it, but when they make a bad one they are bad, so loose it.

Avoid lower spec models, whatever the kit loaded on they never reflect this in the secondhand values, an S model iis always an S model in the black book
