Do I need a new compressor? |
|
Dealer diagnosed a stuck/jammed air-exhaust valve on the suspension compressor.
Do I need to change the complete compressor or can this be fixed with new parts? CLUB ILLEGAL CAR WASHERS

Have you tried cleaning the compressor cover out? I'm not sure where the exhaust for it is, but the area around the compressor gets full of crap, so needs to be cleaned out. Made a big difference to mine. DiscoDunc has instructions for it. Definately worth a try before spending any money. D3 HSE MY05 Auto

Very interesting Renton.
Do you know the exact fault codes found on your suspension?
As far as I'm aware, the exhaust valve is not available as a separate part, so in that sense a new compressor assembly is the answer. However, stuck/jammed does not necessarly mean broken in my book, maybe it's possible to free upp and restore the valve to normal operation?
However, I'm aiming at removing my compressor assembly tomorrow and investigate this, since I seem to have a similar problem.
The exhaust valve outlet exits into a pipe leading to the suspension muffler close to the left rear suspension and from there a larger diameter pipe is routed back in to the compressor cover.

Don't know the fault code, just the "suspension fault, Max 30Km/h" message on my dash.

My car is at the dealers at the moment to have the injectors replaced.
I asked them to have a look at the suspension fault as well. I know there are no compressors available at the moment so they can't replace it.
They probably will take the cover of to clean it and have a look. So if dirt is an issue and solves it I should know this the end of today.
EDIT:
Just got word from the dealer. Compressor and cover are clean. Suspension fault remains and they advise to replace the compressor. They looked athe the dryer but that is intact and they dont want to take the compressor apart.
Brings me back to the original questions. Can you get to the compressors jammed air valve? CLUB ILLEGAL CAR WASHERS

Browsing through compressor post I came accross this post from TFC
"JPO500010 is the compressor upgrade kit, containing a delivery valve and exhaust valve, together with associated screws, O rings etc."
Are these parts for the Air Suspension Compressor?
TFC you've got mail!
TLO do you perhaps have an answer? CLUB ILLEGAL CAR WASHERS
