| do i need to tell insurance about the extras i got from new |

Hi All
I have a disco 4 HSE with all the optional extras listed below my post, these were all factory options but the thing is do i need to tell my insurance about them
I am wondering that if it was stolen or written off would my insurance only replace it with a box standard HSE spec car ????? as we all know how insurance companies like to get out of paying what ever they can
do any of you lot tell them about factory extras you have added to your cars
cheers shawn bali blue disco 4 with rear dvd's, privacy glass, pre heat system, heated steering wheel, full size spare, piano black trim, ipod cable, 20 inch wheels and i love it loads more than my TDV8 RRS, KTM 250 EXC 2 Stroke for the real off road stuff

I certainly would plus the full price of the car with the extras. LR Discovery 4 XS pulling an Airstream 532 Caravan also own (since new) a 1996 MGF

I think you'll find you are covered on most policies for factory fitted. They just get interested when you add the non-standard stuff as it affects the risk. 2010 MX-5 2.0 Sport Tech PRHT

Anything thats on the BUILD list, or dealer fit before receiving is covered I was led to beleive. Any modifications/enhancements once in your hands must let the Insurance know. Its not a simple case of them not paying out just for the item you forgot to tell them, but the possibility of them NOT paying out at all.....Give them a chance to wriggle out and they will.

tell them everything - otherwise you will only end up with a settlement based on the base model.
ie I had 7K of extras on my D4 HSE and had to list everything to ensure it would be replaced like for like.. Duncan

yes that is what i am going to do list everything i had on the car and the price it was, i am going to send it them via email so i can prove i have told them

I sent Lr insurance the invoice from the dealer shpwing list price and purchase price. they treated everything as a modification. The policy price didnt change, it just meant that they had all the options listed incase they had to replace the car like for like. Duncan
