I want to buy a steel bumper, not sure of it's legal - help.
Hello.
I am looking at fitting an A Bar to my D3, however, I am not too sure if it is legal. I want to buy both parts, not just the A Bar, but also the part that goes below it. Can anybody shed any light on if I can do this (legally) and if I can, how do I go about it, because I spoke to Landrover and they told me that I can only buy a Soft Polymer bumper. This is the link, of what I want.

well, it will be my wife driving it more than me, so perhaps I am being a bit selfish... but I don't want to make it all pimp-ish and so on, I just think that the sump guard and low A Bar look good.
I have just bought the D3 last week and the other mods that I have in mind (suggestions and opinions are welcomed) are as follows:
1. Window tinting - Devon Area - (Any recommendations of supplier/fitter?
2. Bluetooth Prep for Wife's Mobile Phone. Don't want a cradle, because wife has a Nokia and I have an iPhone.
3. We have xenon headlights, but mainbeam headlights are just normal light. Want to make them all Xenon. What is the best path to use to make this happen.
I think that's about it. I have a whole list of other mods I have in mind, but I think I have those covered though.
Lookin forward to your responses.
Thanks.

For proper sump plate (Mantec in this case) and LR A bar see below, gives protection without the gangsta rappa look:

based DG's link I think that one is legal
here's a similar one on that site - what seems key is a height of 900mm and what head injuries it causes
though one has to say if you're mown down by a 2.7 tonne motor, whether there's a nudge bar on it or not is a bit of a moot point when it comes to survivability ...
just more nanny state interference IMHO

Does look good, still a fair amount of it around but ice is the main issue, esp where the ploughed snow is melting, running across the road & refreezing. More heavy snow showing on long range forecast!

Thanks very much for your information, references and opinions. I will let you know how things go and will be very careful not to appear like a rapper....
Not gonna happen until February anyway.

Good thing about these veeeehickles is yours can be mod'ed to the way you want it!!! If you like these bars, go for it and pls post a pic. U would be easy to spot and a black sticker on the top crossbar would be 8) Just ignore us GOSs (grumpy old sods!!).
In answer to your third question, the xenons are both dip and main beam - the way it works is a shutter partially drops over the bulb when you dip the beam, then raises when you go back to full beam. The smaller full beam lights are standard halogen, as when you want to 'flash' full beam the xenons will either be off and not spark up in time, or the shutter cannot move quickly enough if they are on.
Therefore you a fully xenon'd all the time anyway Craig
