iCarsoft LR II or I930
Thinking of getting myself a fault reader to save the worry and hassle of getting the codes read every time my D4 throws its toys out the pram.
I dont want to go down the £300 Nanocom route, so thinking more of a unit that can just read and reset codes.
Looking at the iCarsoft LR II or I930.
Anyone got any user experience and any comments on the units?

I have an LR ii
Updating the program / database via the web is straightforward.
There's not much you can actually change (re-set the oil change light plus 3 or 4 others).
Reading fault codes on my D4 is straightforward and so far has performed every time, though there's not much gone wrong to really test it.
I believe the i930 is an earlier version of the LRii and is £20 cheaper. I assume it is a bit less capable.

On ebay they are;
LR II is £136 ish
I930 is £98 ish
Just looking for a reliable fault code reader that will work with every module on the Disco 4. As nice as it would be to program things I am happy to pay the people who know what they are doing for that.

I now have a dilemma - Do I go down the route of a LRII unit at £125, or wait a few more months and get the IID Bluetooth?

Wait, unless you have a dire need now for the cheaper tool
I initially bought the i930 and it read all the systems on my car and most importantly cleared the FBH codes so that started to work again, that alone was worth the 100 quid, then after a year I sold it on ebay for 90 quid and bought the IID from Island4x4
For the money I thought it was an excellent tool.

can it also manage 4x4 info on the touchscreen? I meen either icarsoft LR II or i930

I have an iCarsoft 930 that I got to interrogate my Freelander 2, I also have the Nanocom Evo from when I had my Disco 3, I have now added the FL2 license to the Nanocom and find it easier to use, albeit a lot more expensive.
I note that you are local to me, if you want to try the iCarsoft unit on your car to see if it will do what you need, you're welcome to try it.Clive

crwoody - I am indeed local, I am also in Littleborogugh, well Smithybridge - its a small world!
I ended up getting the LRII for some fault finding and resetting the service light - My plan is at some point get the IID bluetooth, but I haven't needed this functionally yet as Flack did everything when I got the D4.

Yeah the cheaper units only read codes and cant enable / change things.

What is a good tool to buy to read / enable that is not stupidly expensive
Foxwell NT510 gives deeper diagnostic capability than the iCarsoft for not much more money. It can perform activated diagnostics (for example it will activate and cycle various stepper motors, pumps etc such as FBH prime, HVAC stepper motors, seat position sensor diagnosis) and can even be used to programme keys.
It won't do everything an IID will do, but it's a fraction of the price and has a bit more capability than the iCarsoft kit.
Only criticism is the menus are not intuitive - takes a bit of practice to find your way around things.
