Has anybody bought and used this fault code reader/reset tool on their Disco 3?
Mine is a 2009 Disco 3 HSE, which I've owned from new.

Most code readers are good, but some do different jobs and functions so it depends on what you want to do. The Icarsoft are good for the money but I dont think they can change files so that is where the money comes in

Yes, works great and there is no possibility of corrupting your software, which is what OI like. If you want to enable anything then you need the IID tool. Joined the BMWX5 45e group

I considered the IID but I just think it's over the top for my needs, I want a diagnostic and reset tool and the iCarsoft jobby looks like it will do what I want and I just wondered who else was using it. ...?
My Disco is now 10 years old but in really good nick. Very useful still but sticking in the dealers, even independents is just too expensive so I've decided to keep it going myself.....
I am a reasonably competent mechanic, I need to be, I run two TVRs........

I've got one and find it fine for my needs, it won't perform the calibration functions but will highlight if something needs doing and reads/clears codes as well as any other. Mine lives in the glove box and has proved its worth in finding a dodgy injector and a steering angle sensor that needed calibrating.

Reads all the same codes and all the same systems as the IID, more than good enough for 90 percent of users.

Very good for the money, not an iid but it is very useful. Has a handy epb release function amongst others. 08 D3 TDV6 SE

I’m very new the LD3 game having bought my first 09 plate only a month ago (135k but immaculate)
Had a few engine management issues already including the HDC and EPB warnings playing up which were sorted with a quick Hard Reset. (just had a new hand brake module fitted by the dealer l bought it off at their cost - ouch)
Bought the iCarSoft LR V2 as a basic emergency back up should the beast decide it wants to crawl home again at 30mph - if it stays in the glove box forever then great - but something tells me it’s going to be a well used or needed but if kit 🥴
It’s already indicated that an inner right reverse sensor is faulty - knew there was an issue there but had no idea which one was actually off - going to replace that single sensor first and see what happens.
This is a great forum and I’ve learned more about what makes these animals tick or be sick than any other literature or YouTube quick fix.
Trouble is - the more l read about potential faults and LD3 issues the more I’m going back and checking mines ok
The iCarSoft LR V2 is easy to update its software- just go to the iCarSoft web site and download the exe file , plug the device into your lap top and it’s done.
cheers. Ash

Hi All ,
Looking at the reviews I’ve gone ahead and picked up one of these.
It connects and does recognise the car and does have the individual modules.
However in the instructions manual delivered with it, as well as the reader itself
, I get an eerie feeling this is a cheap Chinese reader.
Dead giveaways such as “Reading fault codes, please waiting” turn up when connected to the OBD2 module. Have I received a fake ?
Also whilst connected to OBD2/IM readiness , the ignition type reads Spark - that creates a very uneasy feeling for me. This is no spark ignition engine , I’m sure the reader should know it’s connected to the infamous 2.7Tdv6, and that said engine is a big diesel lump.

Hi - have you tried connecting your iCarSoft LR V2 via a laptop to the iCarSoft website and doing a software version upgrade ?
As soon as l plugged mine in , following the promts for the software update procedure, the website identified the serial number of my unit (as being genuine) and allowed me to register it and obtain the latest software version.
I’m no computer boffin but my unit now shows the latest software , which, if it hadn’t been a genuine unit, l suspect l wouldn’t have been able to carry out this function.
Regards
Ash

Thanks for that Ash, will try that and report back.
It's just that the delivered instructions seem poorly written (yes i'm a grammar nazi )

Right , got around to it yesterday.
You were right , it does carry out a software update , so to that extent all original !
Still appalled that attention to such details could be missed.
