Ideas or part number please - Widen fixed towbar plate??
Fitted the Maxxraxx, and towed the tin tent yesterday.
D4 was lovely to tow with. Even better after I realised that my youngest had turned the terrain knob to mud ruts before I left.
Here’s the problems.
Alko tow frame catches the maxxraxx frame. No where I can adjust it to miss.
Secondly, maxxraxx upright is directly in front of electrics. So I have to mount frame, mount bikes, pull up to caravan, lower bikes, connect electrics, raise bikes, lock in place, connect caravan....Which is a major phafff..
I think what I need to do is move bike frame off centre. Any idea if there is something available to widen fixed towbar bolt plates, or do I have to try and fabricate something. I know there are plates to raise/lower to ball.
Ideas great fully received. Need to sort it before towing again next Sat.

Put a spacer block in between the tow ball and the bike rack bracket, that should sort the stabiliser from catching.
Can't see a way to move the bracket out of align to the electrics. Except put another spacer between the tow bar and the bracket to bring it forward more?.

My setup using a Witter rack and it works fine.
Could do with a spacer between the ball and the rack bracket to give a bit more room.
Also are you using a Alko extended neck ball?.

Thanks Leon.
Haven’t got extended alko ball. Might be an option.
Will look later.MY07 Freelander2 SE Santorini Black - Gone

You can get 2 mounting plates
One is what you have on
The other is wider so looking at back of vehicle
the upright is another
25 mil further to the right which gives you more clearance
Fitted one to the sister rangerover
Had no problems got mine from maxxiraxx
Give them a call ask for wider fixing plate 👍
Just been outside measured mine
Centre of towball to centre of maxxiraxx
Upright is 150 mil (6inch)[/url]

Found a piece of 10mm steel, from an old Peugeot tow bar frame, in the garage.
Nipped out lunch time, and bought a couple of decent HSS drill bits, and will do some drilling tonight.
And, as I am typing this, I have just remembered the I forgot new hacksaw blades to but to size. MY07 Freelander2 SE Santorini Black - Gone
