Saw an Apache this morning over Walton taking the H9 CTR route towards Heathrow 8) It had what looked like a radar globe above the rotors Confused

i think it's the "eye for looking over hedges"

or it's the US version of TOMTOM..

looking them up they use them to peep over the trees from 10 miles away, target tanks, then pop up and blow em to shreds..

Nah - wasn't a radar dome. I bet that was a Google Street View helicopter out recording fields...
The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...

Club "yes, I too have had the EGR's replaced..."
Club "yes, I too have had the compressor replaced..."
Club "yes, I too once had the car at the dealer for a couple of weeks nearly 4 weeks over 4 weeks...5 weeks"
Club "yes, I too have had EPB failure..."
Club "yes, I too get mysterious bings and bongs..."

This variant is called the LONGBOW.

Its a v large update on the original.

It can sit behind a hill with the dome showing selecting up to 16 targets independantly then advising the pilot which is the most dangerous.

The pilot then moves his EYE and looks at the , soon to be extinct target, and whoosh automatic sunshine on your ass.

We get them at Bham airport alot when they fly in dignataries and the wounded from Afghanistan.

Amazing bit of kit with only one weakness - see Gulf War 2.

Sorry these things float me boat.....................
