any idea's WTF is going on here??

pretty much every night, tonight included we get a helicopter buzz over the house around now, (23.45) it always has no lights on, no strobe or nav lights of any sort,

I know it's military, believe it's either a merlin or a super puma, flying about 50ft above the ground,,, VERY low....

penhale camp is pretty much in line with where it heads to about 5 miles away but there's nothing serious there, unless i'm mistaken Shocked

hapens at least 3 times a week, sometimes nothing for days and then every night for a week,

me figures someone is on the razz in the brecons and they drop them off here for some reason?

any other idea's or conspiracy theorys?

all b+llox considered, not expecting a proper answer Very Happy

Have a dark and dirty Merlin whip over our place whenever God Frog and his SBS brethren play "lets storm the tanker bridge mock-up" at the Bang-Bang range just north of Bovington. Gets a bit noisy when they have fast mover support mind you.

Very cool though 8)

no do$h you must be on the same flight path as my folks, they get the same treatment, if you follow the power lines from portland out towards yeovil you go straight past their place, seems they use the lines for navigation, seems they also like to see how low they can get to them,

my dad has got a great shot of a chinook popping up over the hedge in front of him dont know who was more suprised haha

like all the answers, knew they'd be flying on NV, but to not even hav any nav lights at all, in this country??

Following power lines? Shocked

That ones on the golden list of no-no for military flying. Don't follow roads, rivers or power lines.... because there may be someone coming the other way doing the same thing......

Used to be a posted in RAF briefing rooms - a representation of a landscape with a Herc flying one way and a jet coming the other way. I'm sure there must be a copy of it online somewhere. Will have a rummage.
