Hi,my wife was hit while driving the disco in the lanes were we live by an idiot taxi driver going much to fast in a ford focus estate,. it somehow managed to catch the front wheel before ending up alongside. The damage to my car is steering rack sheared off both column and subframe, suspension pushed back into wheel arch, broken wheel and tyre, hub split were the track rod attatches, bent wishbone and various suspension pieces damagrd plus wing and doors with slight damage, the focus was scrap before the smash but seemed to come of better,my question is are they designed to break up like this to protect the occupents,as it just seems like a lot of damage for the speed involved.

Normally it's the other way around, with anything hitting a disco ending up much worse off? Maybe it's just chance with what sounds like all the impact forces being taken through the front wheel into the suspension. As long as your wife's okay...
