IID BT tool or Nanocom
Hello,
Forgive me if this has already been talked about but im looking into buy a proper dignostic tool. So far the IID tool seems to be on top going by what people are saying. My question is, the standard IID BT tool say that its advanced features are vin locked, what does this mean? is it a case of an extra purchase to unlock the advanced features? or is the tool vin locked to the specific vehicle its been used on? The other contender is the Nanocom, which is the more user freindly?
Appriciate any advice,
Cheers
Connor

If you buy an IID BT and first use it on your car then you have everything available for your car. If you want to do all that on a second car you buy another license, £60 ISTR. Without that license you can still read faults on most modern LRs & Jaaaaaaaags, just not reflash ECUs, change CCF, etc.
Discerning widget.

The IID no question. i have had service from both companies. One was awesome and gave me a refund without being asked, and one broke the law and refused a refund.
GAPs tool is better too.

IID any day of the week
I've used the other main ones on various land rovers over the years and have to say wish GAP had made diagnostics for the earlier models.
Customer service 2nd to none and a manual to read. None of the others had that

I don’t even have one but still keep the IID BT logo in my sig box. If it worked with my present car I’d have gladly kept it.

It means you can only program keys, calibrate suspension, edit config options, and update software on YOUR car.
You can read/clear fault codes on all landrovers though
