I'm gonna fit the D3 towbar twin electric kit myself
Following TLO's delivery I'm gonna fit the D3 towbar twin electrics kit myself, because the instructions would suggest it to be an absolute price of cake to complete.
As a relative novice and always welcome of any assistance, is it as easy as it looks and is there anything I should look out for that might trip me up?
Thanks,

Drop the spare wheel out of the way first, also its a bit of a fiddle to get the fat cable tucked out of the way around the upper inside bumper and the dangly weights, still only takes max 1hr though. Very easy Captain Nick Medhurst would ask:
"What is the first rule when overlanding?"

Just make sure your reversing sensors work OK when completed i.e. don't keep bleeping when towing, I do know of a person who self fitted one and had that problem and it took some time to sort out although done now.

Forgot to mention the equipment that you will need mate :
2 trolley jacks
gas axe
65mm hub spanner
4 poster lift
4 wheel alignment
clutch alignment tool
ball joint splitter
orbital sander
paint roller
tea
biscuits
screwdriver set
seriously though , the last three is all that I think it needs from my poor memory. Top Tip? in my opinion clean up, kurust and paint the area behind the bumper flap (the recovery eye, the holes for the leccy and as far as you can get with a brush and hammerite) before fitting the new electics, it may have got a little untidy after 5 yrs. It may well annoy you when your shiney java beast has its rusty little aris sticking out every time you tow.Captain Nick Medhurst would ask:

Did Wiggsy say what you'd done wrong, so I can avoid doing the same?

Yep, piece of cake to actually fit.
Although you'll need to get somebody to tick the right box in the ECU for you.
Spooky did mine for me in about 30 seconds at one of the local meets.
Not sure what doesn't work if the ECU isn't told you've fitted them though.

...and the consensus in the above post is that the ECU doesn't need programming.
I wonder if that's specific to certain, older MY vehicles D3 incl. genuine glass windscreen, front bi-focal headlights, full width rear bumper, self levelling washer bottle contents and audible 'tick tock' indicator stalk

No mate did nothing wrong he just sorted the ecu out so the sensors don't beep when towing or something like that

It doesn't need enabling for the indicators brakes etc to work, it only needs enabling to stop the car going into off road height when you are towing and change to one of teh Terrain response modes that would normally automatically raise the suspension.
You can of course still override this so that it raises.

Cheers.
Having patiently read that link I posted rather than reading it quick as I did the first time it does hint at that

But other tyhan that, you'll be fine to fit & forget
Thanks Bodsy.
I did read that in certain conditions you can raise the motor to off road height, if you struggle with the caravan wheel.
As re-programming the ECU over rides this, is it not felt to be a good idea?

Only tip to offer Rob is that Instruction 16 is the confusing one. There are caps on the plugs in the wiring loom behind the LHR tail-light that you have to remove; instruction 16 shows this but until you KNOW what it's telling you to do, pretty hard to figure out. They need a right old tug too.
Also required (in my case): plasters, and eye-bath (mud from underneath in the eyes), and £1 for the swear-box.
Happy to help if you get stuck.____
