DG, Is there something in the WIKI describing how to carry this procedure out with nothing but a couple of ramblers walking poles and some sticky backed plastic? (Hint! Please?)

It'd be good to be prepared for such an eventuality should it happen in the middle of a green lane.

Transgenic tomato anyone?

There are some photo's on here somewhere.

ISTR the in-situ repair would have been straight forward if the end of the shaft had not been slightly damaged by possibly trying to drive the car with a broken cv joint. This meant that although a spare joint was carried, the broken bit would not come off the shaft. I remember Andrew and others hitting the Censored out of the thing in the desert trying to get it off.

Ultimately, the car was towed by the Red Dwarf, and others to the next camp/village/civilisation where the services of a local engineer were employed to make a good shaft out of a combination of old and new bits.

All for the price of a packet of fags and a bottle of beer Thumbs Up
