Sorry to keep adding to your post, but I hate threads that never finish.
I have bitten the bullet and removed my Instrument Cluster, boxed it up and sent it to These Guys - Totaltronics. Their website states it will fix the exact problems we're having with our exact cars. A real confidence boost. Lots and lots of extemely positive reviews about them too. I will report back next week, once it returns and I've refitted it.
