Important message re cruise control |
|
I had been experiencing the occasional suspension error messages which appeared then disappeared just as quickly and after reading this site learned that Landrover had just released a patch for this problem. I had the patch done and it has not given any problems since. I spoke to a friend about this who also has a D3, turns out his cruise control stuck on the wrong side of 70, it would not switch off with the buttons on the steering wheel, braking had no effect and even changing down from 6th to 4th did not disengage it. It only disengaged when the DSC activated as the vehicle went round a roundabout! Anyway, he took it in to have it looked at, and have a new steering wheel fitted, the dealers downloaded this patch as it also, in their words "addressed this problem". So, if you have had intermittent suspension faults, keep a very close eye on the cruise control!! Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere, if it has, I couldn't find it! Discovery 3 TDV6 HSE

Thats probably not related to the cruise control fault mentioned above.
More likely another failure somewhere else.
This will just get rid the permanent 'i'

Sounds like the fault BN had, traced to the steering wheel 'clock spring' assembly - apparently

Should be a hazard recall on something like this. This fault could kill.

yes- I agree - maybe they are waiting to do a mass recall for everything or just doing the 'oh its never happened before' routine. Of course with the advent of the internet this ones going to be quite difficult to pull off now. 2007 TDV6 HSE 'Silver Lady'. With 'free' privacy glass LOL.

Rather worrying as my cruise control frequently fails (will not switch on at all), so I'll just hope that it does not do the reverse one time If it does, how about using the electronic hand brake, it was supposed to be able to be used as an emergency brake

Yes it is / does, although rather than applying the EPB shoe brakes, the full braking system kicks in, with a similar noise to the HDC, pulls you up nice and sharpish
