I would imagine the structure of the roof would be very different to that of a non 'alpine roof' version.
Technically anything can be done of course... in reality I doubt you would be able to cut away, strengthen and insert glass into the roof of yours or any ones D3. Would be flipping expensive to do as well
It's not quite the same as having a small sun roof fitted
But good luck anyway and let us know how it goes.
EDIT... I meant Alpine

In addition to Simon's post, I recall reading a "Car" magazine supplement prior to the launch, wherein the absence of the D2's moonroof was discussed. Rejected for structural reasons; I'll dig out the exact text if you're interested.
My poor recollection - it was to allow for curtain airbags for the rear seat passengers and the number and size of sunroofs were compensation for the loss of light. Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana

Sure you want to take on this mammouth task, would it not be more viable, if you really want the Alpine roof to swap the motor. Probably work out cheaper too
Not a job I would like to do thats for certain. Good luck though

LR wrote:The roof structure can accommodate both sunroof and alpine roof. The sunroof is a conventional cassette-type design that opens rearwards, outside the vehicle. The alpine roof is a large, full width glass roof bonded into the metal structure, above the second and third-row seats. To preserve strength, it is braced by cross members, invisible from the outside. When neither sunroof nor alpine roof is fitted, the outer roof panel is a single large steel pressing with styled swages to add strength and prevent booming.
Looks to me that you will need to replace the whole roof panel for one intended to carry the glass panel and sunroof...if you try cutting the original roof to make it fit you may compromise rigidity and under stress this could cause the roof glass to fail

Its hard enough keeping water out of Landrovers when the seals/joints seams are as per the factory, if you start putting your own in I think you´ll end up with a fishtank....
Sell your car and buy one with the Alpine Roof..... Cheers
