I seem to remember a guy on here the other day who can fix any instrument cluster. Coincidentally, soon after I saw it on here he was also featured on Wheeler Dealers where he fixed an instrument cluster from an Audi I think for £120 rather than the £700+vat from the dealer and we saw him at work.
He made it plain that he could sort out any instrument cluster in existence for around that going rate.
Problem is I can't find the link.

It can be done on a D3 so I can't see why it can't be done on a D4, but it is not a straight swap, the information in your original has to be copied and transferred to the new one, you will need an Iid tool or equivalent diagnostic tool, someone with a better brain than mine should be along shortly, in the meantime use the search facility as it has question has arisen previously.
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

I have used a company called Cluster Repairs a couple of times, once on my D3, with great success, I have no connection with them but found them a great company to deal with.
