Just sorting out the insurance for the new arrival and wondered if anyone had landed a good deal. Rather than just change it over from our last company I thought it was time to try someone new. So far Tesco and Virgin are offering the lowest quotes circa £450. My previous company wanted over £1k. This seems like a very good deal but I'm new to 4x4's and have no source of reference. Any help appreciated. 2005 TDV6 SE Silver/Black Manual + Alpine

Depends on your claims history/age/drivers/location etc. Have you tried www.esure.com - they are often very cheap, but watch issues like a protected NCD that can become unprotected! LandRover do insurance themselves - but I discovered that they are just a conduit for Royal Sun Alliance who trade under the More than brand (again on-line for More Than & they have a protected for life NCD + will give you same ncd on a 2nd car). Watch for cover levels - off-raod, towing, expensive hi-fi etc. IN teh end of the day if it seems exceptionally cheap there will be a reason why!

I use LR insurance, which as Ecosse so rightly states is something to do with Sun Alliance, but never had an issue with it. It covers off-road, trailers in addition to normal fully comp cover, but is a little higher.
Unfortunately, since I only have 3, maybe 4 years no-claims discount, I ripped the entire side off a brand new Porsche!! with my tow-bar when reversing and it was debatable who's fault it was, plus for business I have to have Business class 1, and I do 25k miles plus/year then mines a little higher, just £10 over my D2 last year. Currently my insurance is approx £750
Note with LR insurance when I had my D2 chipped they only added £40 to the total year cost, so wise to advise them, as £40 is nothing and you dont want to give them any excuse, if you do have a chip to refuse cover.

I found a similar wide variation in costs. The cheapest was £450 and the average over £650 for my HSE with clean licence and 9years protected NCD, business class 1.
There was a catch however. Most insurance companies demanded a Tracker to be fitted. Now I dont mind this if they then give a discount, but no such offers.
In the end I went with LR insurance as the overall best package (for me) and not needing a tracker. After all, I can get one fitted after the ist year.

Mine is just under £700 with Zurich(? - I Think!).Cost me £15 more than on the D2. I have lots of protected NCB, no accidents, no points, with class 1 business use.
I had to have a Tracker fitted though which cost me £750 with lifetime Horizon cover.

I'm with esure and it costs £370 with class 1 business use, with no need to have tracker or the like fitted.

Of course with all the 'mine only cost XXX' quotes... your post code will affect the cost considerably.
Mines at 540 inc business, 2 years of new for old replacement, 5 yrs NCD. I came off a company car so had no personal NCD to transfer. Just had the office do a letter to NFU stating I've been a good boy in the company motor.
