| Insurance for modified cars |
|
I am looking to get my insurance re-newed but iam struggling to find somewhere that will insure the car with a snorkel, winch and few other simple mods. I have rang some of the big player and they are all saying no 
any suggestion welcome
i am looking for the usual critiria cheap, cheap cheap.

Had the same problem with snorkel, a bar and sump guard.
LV advised they would only insure vehicles with 2 or less modifications. Tried to argue snorkel and a bar were dealer fitted LR accessories with no effect on performance or risk but no go. Same with Direct Line etc.
Renewed existing policy thru Adrian Flux but the company providing the policy do not have a good reputation according to my goggle searches.
Would be interested to hear from those who have lots of mods and aren't insuring through some form of business where they got insurance. Tony

Footman James arrange insurance for me:-
Jaguar XK150 - agreed value upgraded engine + many mods
MG B GTV8 - agreed value upgraded engine + many mods, inc 5 link rear suspension, 5 speed gearbox etc.
Disco III - BAS remap
All on one policy, at an excellent premium.
NJSS Am I Gammon or Woke ? - I neither know nor care.

have you tried Admiral
I got a quote for a D3, D4 (both modified) and a Toyota Aygo on their muli car policy. They refered it to the under writers on the basis of the mods and the quote back was very reasonable. I stayed with LR thoguh as they guarenteed to use genuine LR parts and covered offraod use which admiral didnt Duncan

not had much issue with mods as only have sump guard and tyres. the interesting bit is that i'm with LR and they have told me they do not cover off road use. they dropped it a few years ago

just an update
Admiral would not cover the cars mods and off road use but would cover one or the other
Lancater wanted £1500
LR would not cover the car as parts were not fitted at a LR dealer
this is just a few of the many i have rang so far.
Adrian flux seems the best so far with european cover, all mods and off road use been included for a reasonable amount of cash.

I'm with AF as no one else would go with a mix of dealer and non-dealer fit accessories.
The company who actually underwrite the policy do not have the best reputation when it comes to claims according to my web research  Tony
