Insurance Quotes

This topic may have already been covered - but can anyone recommend a good value Insurance company / broker for a D3. We are currently with Direct Line and their renewal quote is £457 for the wife and me as named driver. We are both 40 something with full no claims and 1 speeding ticket each, living in rural Northumberland, so hopefully not in a "high risk" category. I was hoping for a quote of £300 and something...... Confused We have a "collection" of other vehicles (a Defender, a Merc, a Camper Van and a trials bike) and it always occurs to me that we should try to find one policy to cover the lot - does such a thing exist .... Question

I use NFU Mutual... very good rates and great cover too.

Call your local office for a quote... they were waaay less than LR and others for me. Depends greatly on where you live though - me in the countryside 6 miles from their local office who are also 500 yds from my LR dealer.

The site to check is www.confused.com (not confuse). I've just got our Range Rover Sport covered with MoreThan (www.morethan.com) for £375 - that's for me and my wife, both age 36 with no points and full no claims. This was the cheapest insurer I could find that didn't need a tracking device fitted. You could get cheaper, but then it wasn't worth spending £500 on a tracker.

NFU don't want tracker or special equipment. I have a few views about tracker and one is, do you really want a car back when the theives have finished with it and the police eventually find it weeks later. I have had that expereince (hence CATE) and it is not pleasant. Also NFU at no extra cost cover trailers such as Ifor Williams etc, plus a lot more. It also makes a huge difference to the insurance in which zone you live.

There are some zones that £500 would be cheap, on the other hand some where £350 would be expensive, it depends on the assessors risk evaluation. One thing that is vital, tell the insurer the full facts. When I got the first D3, I asked for a quote and they thought it was a D2, no matter what I said the drippy girl on the end of the phone could not understand it was a new model.

As far as all in one insurance is concerned, yes the NFU will do that. All you do is add any thing you want, but at a cost, so shop around. My motorhome with NFU was about £150 more because they did not specialise in Motorhomes.

By the way, I pay £76 for my Jimny full comp any driver full protected no claims etc etc Very Happy
