Insurance: Tesco vs Direct Line

It's that time of year again. Best prices is Tesco (not value) at about £300. I am currently with Direct line who want £380 to renew.

Wondered if anyone had ever used Tesco Insurance and if so would be grateful for an opinion.

THanks.

I went from Direct line to Tesco purely down to cost savings, Swmbo has done the same for her car.

Can't think of any reasons not to use them, perhaps check if you take your car off roading that they will cover you?

Cheers,
YTA

Someone here posted in the last few days that they had Tesco w/ off-road cover. Not sure if that's an optional extra though.

Hi Pagoda,
I have been a Tesco insurance customer for the last 7 years, I have never had any cause to complain.
When I did have to make a claim on a different car it was all sorted extremly quickly...

I have just had my renewal through from Tesco and it has gone up by about £80 to £450.Not too bad I guess, have to ring them about modifications though so will see if I can haggle it down a bit.
Always get stung on insurance though for being a chef. Rolling Eyes

Always been with Aviva (Norwich Union) but this years renewal has gone up from £355 to £518. Direct Line and Swift Cover quote £337 and Churchill is £279 with E-Sure even cheaper !!

That's full no claims protected, courtesey car, business use and £300 excess.

Before I jump either way, any experiences would be appreciated.

Steve

Opted for Swift Cover in the end - means we now have both vehicles insured with them. The process of signing up and accessing copy of policy, certificate etc was so easy - much better than Aviva.

Took up a couple of options so total was £341 - that's still £14 cheaper than what I paid last year and a whopping great £177 cheaper than my renewal.

Happy bunny Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Never knew that. My mate had a terrible experience with Tesco on a brand new Alfa (some numpty hit him up the back end) whereas I have found Direct Line to be pretty damn average - good service/no claim.[/quote]
