Yes im getting power from the OBDII connection ok .The interface box lights up.
And as far as the usb side and bios..im going round my brothers tommorow as he works in computers...i let him mess up my laptop insted of me 
I did initally have an issue with it connecting to com port 13 ..but the software only lists com ports 1 - 8.
I have changed the com port setting but not sure if its caused some config. G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

If you get the tx/rx lights on both sides flashing then the interface is working OK - that's not to say the software can make any sense of what's being received

Right , sorted out com port problem ..some phone software clashing with the com port.
I can connect ok on key position 1 ..all ok .If i try and run the engine it looses all connections .
It seems to be when i turn to position 2 all comunication lost .
Tryed it on a mini cooper and fiat multipla and they work fine ..with engine running i can then look at real time monitoring .
Any ideas as to why the disco wont connect when running ..obviously i cant do real time monitoring (or much else )without the engine running . G4 Gone ...but not forgotten
