My spoken Welsh is much better than my written Welsh, so I occasionally use Google to help, but as I have a good understanding of Welsh I am able to spot and correct any errors.
To save costs, non Welsh speaking organisations are simply taking what Google says as the correct translation, leading to these results 
I remember when on my YTS at M&S Swansea, I was their official cheque translator as you can legally write a cheque in Welsh  Iggy/Ieuan

is it just me or do all those translated signs just seem a waste of money how many taffs cant read english ??
btw before it all kicks off i like the welsh and my daughter lives in Cardiff so visit often MY05 SE D3 Manual my first LR what a car

One of the most popular that i remember is from the eighties when the cola wars was at its height (Coca Cola V Pepsi) and Pepsi started to advertise in China with their slogan "come alive with Pepsi" For weeks nobody bought it and it was a flop until it was pointed out that the slogan actually read in Chinese "Pepsi brings your ancestors back from the dead"  The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;
They just make the best of everything they have.

I am a Welsh speaker, and of course want the language to live on and on, but I do think that the 'Nationalists' go to far with having everything translated, from job adverts through to signs - I read recently that a new M&S store in North Wales has refused to translate a 'Foodhall' sign into Welsh as 'FoodHall' is registered trademark of M&S, so they felt that it didn't need translating - so for now they neither have an English or even Welsh sign up 
Makes sense to have targeted translation, such as for a job where Welsh will be needed, but only a very few fall into this are, but not everything is needed!

In Scotland they have been logoing police cars with "Poileas" for Gaelic speakers as well as "Police". I have to wonder, if money is so tight, why do they keep on with all this, its looks an easy win to save a few bob for real Police work. Joined the BMWX5 45e group
