Is my Disco 3 unreliable?

Mine's just gone in for a jammed gear selector pivot. However, I've owned it for 3 years and so far, apart from servicing:

New boot latch for jammed tailgate.
New parking sensors
New parking sensor control module
Failed suspension height sensors
Failed suspension air compressor
Blown HK amplifier for stereo
Jammed parking brake
Seized rear brake caliper (new discs required also)
New ashtray
The laquer on the wheels is also peeling now!

2005 model with 108k miles. Am I just unlucky?

All standard stuff apart from the ash tray. Had all of those apart from the amp & ash tray, and a lot more. It's a process of continuous renewal. Thumbs Up

I too have a MY05 plate D3.

You don't so much buy a D3 as begin the rebuild!!!

I've owned my 05 S from new, 108k and it still drives and behaves like new, mind you that might be because it's had so many new parts. That's the beauty of LR: It's always a new car! Laughing

TBH I recon he's got off lightly, some of us are on new gearbox, transfer box, rear diff, wheel bearings, all height sensors, air compressor, EGR valves, brake vacum, park brake assembly, to name but a few things others have had done at less mileage in some cases Whistle

Forgot the sat nav screen which occasionally flickers like the TV in poltergeist.

Ah, the advantage of a peasant level D3, no satnav screen to flicker & no sunroof to leak. Whistle

Owned my MY08 from new, and with 78K on the clock have replaced the following:-

2 sets of brake pads front and back,
1 set of discs front and back,
1 set of tyres (Cooper ATR's still going after 40K miles plus),
1 set of suspension height sensors replaced as recall under warranty,
Brake servo modified as recall under warranty,
2 EPB modules (1 under warranty one at my expense Confused ),
1 Battery.

So already beginning to regenerate after less than 4 years! The EPB is a real bugbear but everything else seems fair. Can recommend the Cooper ATR's, excellent summer and winter tyres and last for ever.

My fourth Land Rover over the years, all have required love and attention but all have served me well. Wouldn't have anything else (especially for towing).
