What is it about me and bank holidays?
I always seem to befall some kind of inconvenience over bank holiday weekends - when nowhere useful is open and you can't get anything delivered. This weekend was the turn of the EGRs on the D3 - zero power below 2,000 rpm
So, blanked off both with a pair of 2p coins, removed the butterfly and gave the MAP sensor a polish for good measure.

Hi Martin,
Not that I need to do mine - I think! But how simple a task is this.
Read a lot on the forum, but looking under the bonnet makes it look like you need to be a contortionist!
Best regards

its all quite easy apart from getting the Right hand side lower bolt out of the EGR value.
i spent longer trying to undo that bolt than all the others put together (or thats what it seemed like..)Duncan

Trickiest part (for me) was undoing and refixing the clips from the EGR pipes where they connect to the stubs fitted to the butterfly housing, used a combination of mole grips and needle nose pliers
I didn't unbolt the EGR valves themselves or remove the outlet pipes, just opened up the flange enough to slide the coin in and tightened back down. Managed a job on a car without scraped knuckles! 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti
