Is this the sump / drain plug for an oil change?

Hi, I don't intend on buying a vacuum pump and the wife has barred me from trying the Dyson on it, so I need to locate the sump plug for an oil change ..!

Expecting it to be on the bottom, is this it on the side of the sump ??

Looks like the fella to me... it looks like the same bolt as used on the D3 pan... i seem to have a collection of these as I always get a new one with a filter... never seem to throw the old ones away! lol

Thanks, I never get given a sump plug! I just use the same old one, with the same washer. Strange they have put it on the side, I suppose I won't get as much oil all over my hands! Cheers

These sump bolts have a rubber seal fixed to them so i guess over time it could perish... but all the ones i have in the garage look as good as new! lol

You will be much faster and clean if you just unplugs the black tube at the right. Is for the vacuum suck pipe, so engine oil.

Dealers do it.

Thumbs Up

I was going to say what about undoing that pipe as it looks lower than the drain plug Smile

Get a vacuum pump

it's quick and clean (unless you really like crawling under cars getting hot oil on your hand)
They're selling on a popular auction web site for £47. Thumbs Up

edit: 'they're' not 'there' Embarassed

SPOT ON!

That's a lot easier & cleaner than taking the drain plug out, though a bit worrying that the oil is all being held in by a plastic connector ..

Re: the vacuum pumps. I might get one, but as I'd got the covers off to sort my leaking steering rack seals out, I thought I'd drop the oil out. As you know, taking the covers off is half the job.

I've got a drill pump, I wonder if with a couple of lengths of pipe that would suck it out another time ..? Anyone done something similar? (would save having yet another gadget in my bulging shed!).

Cheers folks Thumbs Up

Is this a D3? It doesn't look right to me (going only from memory) but I don't remember a plastic pipe on the bottom of the engine sump.

The engine oil drain is at the bottom of the sump so the oil flows directly....

Take a look here.....
