It's finally happened..... |
|
Well, I knew it wouldn't last.... Finally had the loveeerrrrrrrly EPB Screamer as I pulled into my parking space at work today
Will see later if it's a one off, otherwise I think I know what I'll be doing this weekend! (once I can find the TFC/AndrewS EPB instructions.......)
SWMBO's had D&V since Sunday night, Eldest daughter had it this morning, Eldest lad slipped & put an elbow through a window yesterday evening (no damage to him though thankfuly).
Nothing on the scale of NoDo$h, but still it's enough!
Off to update my poll on the EPB screamer post..... Bodsys Brake Bible

Mine started to scream last week, as well as the front pads warning light bonging it's tits off at me every 10 seconds. Oh' and the back end sounds like it's on a wooden roller coaster, must be the bushes, as I found a part of one laying on my driveway yesterday.
Going into the dealer tomorrow to be given some TLC.

The nice people at Yeovil (yes I drove from Manchester to Yeovil for a service ) put me a new "activator" on.
It's fine now AND the suspension creep (apply footbrake on steep hill, apply EPB, release footbrake and car moves forward {enough for folk to assume it's a transmission brake } on the suspension) is much less...
I found 2 ways of releasing screaming stuck EPB(well 3...)
1. Go for a coffee and come back... OR
1a. Call for LRA and it works fine when the nice man arrives
2. apply low ratio and high suspension, try to release EPB; apply high ratio and normal suspension and try to release EPB; keep repeating - mine usually let go at the 3rd round
The little wire loop is hard to find and looks very weedy for the tension people have described as being required
Good luck. 2006 D3 finally swapped for a 2016 D4 Graphite in Graphite grey. No mods

After mine has had a squawk when shutting down, it resets fine when restarted. Bit of a pain at the lights when you start to hear it squawk and can get it off in time before it locks on. Quick way is to restart the car, listen to the bongs and info message sating "EPB Failure" release and away ye' go.

Thanks DN, that's the one for releasing it, which I can do no problem (well I say I can, I've never actually had to do it, but I know the theroy...)
The one I can't seem to find, is the instructions on dis-assembing and then cleaning the EPB & re-tensioning it. I'm sure TFC posted it, but my searches haven't found it yet. Will keep looking...... Bodsys Brake Bible

It's scary how my memory works. I can remember all sorts of stuff like that, but walk to kitchen to get a.... get a....
Why am I in the kitchen? I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.
