hi all I was unfortunate enough to have a puncture on the way home on Friday (new tyre £150 grrr) has anyone else had problems with the jack handle the extension bar and the hook part now spin in each other, bit of a silly design for a car that heavy. Looks like ill be buying a new jack this week

Most of us have ditched the standard one and gone for a decent trolley jack
Or if your wealthy enough the Takla air jack (around £300 I think )2020 BMW X1 18d XDrive X-Line Auto

Yip, get a trolley jack or airbag.
I had this happen to me when trying to change a tyre. Luckily I had a break-bar and sockets with me.

Airjack & compressor.
Can't use a trolley jack on my gravel drive.
PS jkp is that broken LR parts on Mrs jkp's nice granite kitchen worktop???

Like the car, it's under warranty ....
Having said that, I'm really concerned about the supplied scissor jack - used mine twice (at home) and it's showing signs of wear (like yours) It's not really up to heaving a car the weight of a D3 in the air I reckon.
For home use I've just got a trolley jack but am now considering something different to the one LR supply for travel. Maybe an air-jack?
I also want to modify the spare wheel lowering device so you don't have to unload half a ton of stuff from the back to get at the drive nut.
Maybe a permament extension type of thing that would sit flush with the load space? Friend of mine uses a small rechargable electric drill to lower/raise this.
Any thoughts, anyone?

I'm on my 3rd LR jack, now only emergency use when I've no airjack. I think it was Wiggs that did a good post on "wheel lowering without unloading boot" thingy.

I think slimer looked at that and thought it only suitable/would struggle (one or t'other) to lift a Ford Fiesta.

Well I don't know .. the specs LOOK ok -
Specification:
Lifting capacity ... 3000kg
Inflatable bag size ... 480 x 545mm
Hose length ... 4.5M (approx.)
Inflating time ... 50 secs. (approx.) at idle speed
You'd obviously need a bung for the second pipe to get the pressure up.
Wonder if anyone's tried one? It's £250 cheaper than a Takla!

I was tempted by the draper air jack but at £50 there must be a catch.

Slimer will sell you his Draper air jack for £25 but you won't thank him as it's won't lift your car. If you still want to give it a go I'll sell you a bung for your second exhaust that works (unlike the Takla one) for £18 inc p&p. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.
