JE or Turbochip

Take delivery of my TDV6 HSE in a couple of weeks.

I will chip the car pretty much straight away.

Has anyone had experience of cars with bith the JE and Turbochip upgrades, did they fel the same or are there any noticable differences, ie
smoothness, drivability, tourque curve etc ?

Drove a JE D3 yesterday and it was VERY impressive. Not tried a TC D3 yet.

There is a big difference from the standard car to the up-graded Laughing The car is a lot more responsive, Fuel economy goes up by about 5 mpg. Very Happy The up-grade makes the car an absolute dream to drive both on and off road. Razz

I have a J&E up-grade, can't comment on the Turbochip.

Driven a Turbochip modded vehicle on and off road... very well mannered and a significant diference....
Nice and smooth, pulls like a shire horse on steroids Shocked IMHO well worth the money Wink oh, the extra fuel economy is good too

LR will have detuned the mapping to account for the variances in fuel quality in the best s Censored tholes in the world, what I think Turbochip does is restore the optimum tuning Question performance has a noticable difference dependent upon the quality of fuel used.
SOAP analysis may reveal differences between JE and Turbochip though Wink

All I know is the JE one was awesome when I drove the D3 on Sunday... blew me away !

If I had access to a TC car I could compare.

TFC, you'll have to come down here and meet a JE driver and compare... then post a real review...

depending on the owner of course as it is his D3 Wink Nice chap though Smile

Maybe, but you could certainly take a lead from others when it comes to customer communication.

seems the opposite on RRS - from an admittedly brief foray onto the 'dark side' Wink

Do the JE or Turbochip mods work off road - as in when one of the terrain response settings are selected - or only on road? Reason for the question is that I thought I read somewhere that the terrain response settings alter the engine mapping anyway.

And I will bite, what is a "SOAP" analysis in the context of this thread ? If JE and Turbochip are correct the engine (+ its oil) should be within normal parameters.

The tune is still there when you go into the special programs menu, and I think the car is easier to drive off road. When you decide that power is required, say at the bottom of a steep incline. There is no delay in response.
Example
Pre tune:- Point, squirt wait for the car to respond then off you go missing the only bit of grip you had.
Post tune:- Point, squirt, go, grip and up you go.

My gut feeling will be that the TC tune will out perform the J&E tune, however the J&E tune may be more refined. But I’m sure the TC tune is just as refined. Wink

There is no smoke from the J&E tune.

All we need to do now is find a J&E tuned car! Oh I think I have found one.

Name the time and place. Can I wear a poncho?

Does this mean I have to take my snorkel and roof rack off oh and put my road tyres on?. Crying or Very sad

DO NOT try this. The next time you are at a set of lights, and there is boy racer next to you grinning. Select SAND in the special programs and go from there.
In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.
