Jerky Gear Change

It might be my imagination but I have noticed that I get a slight jerk when the gearbox changes up from 1st to second. Same thing happens when I put it into neutral when stopped at traffic lights etc.

This only happens when the engine is cold and it returns to the normal smooth change when the engine warms up.

The car has done 40K miles, always been main dealer serviced, and I've had it from new (8 speed MY12) and it certainly didn't jerk in the early days.
The majority of the mileage has been towing my tintent, and I'm wondering if I should get an early ATF change done. I know this fluid change is a specialist procedure so I shudder to think what the cost will be at a main dealer. Trouble is I can't find any independents fairly local to me (Hereford) that can do it.

Anyone one else experienced this "jerkiness" and seen a worthwhile improvement after a full ATF flush ?
