Got quoted $1200 for a front brake replace by the dealer. That's £600. I guess the parts have to travel extra distance to get to me.

Hi Willy, what mileage is your car on? I have just had third service on mine, at 48k miles, and the cost would be comparable to yours if you take off the mot (mine is only 2yrs old)
I'm interested that yours needed front bushes, mine is just starting to knock when the brakes are applied sharply, which to me is a sure sign the lower wishbones are failing. The service manager did not think they needed doing.

35k Gareth just coming up 3years old so wanted a full check up, good thing about my local dealer (Hatfields Pickering) is they make a video of any concerns and always show the brake pad measurements, the video showed them working the lower bushes, and whilst only an advisory they went ahead and changed them under warranty (they weren't knocking) Not the cheapest service and MOT but because they changed the bushes I probably saved a couple of hundredClub Pie n Pea

Thanks Willy.
I too got the video of brake and tyre condition emailed to me, a very nice touch. However nothing on the bushings.
I am sure they will be knocking their tits off by the time of the next service!
