Ouch!
Sounds to me like the dealer has double-sold your D3 - i.e. they've promised it to someone else but sold it to you instead and are now trying to cover for it.

I think Martin is correct.
What's in it for the dealer ? Seems like you have the upper hand ?
Its a tough call to get emotional on a business deal ..................Somewhere in-between my old D3 and what's to come next .........

If you only need 5 seats then go for it, I reckon a V8 D3 will depreciate heavily in years to come wheras a RRS is always going to sell!2020 BMW X1 18d XDrive X-Line Auto

2 things.
You say you only need 5 seats. I'm guessing you have kids as your wife has a Toureg and you had to swap your M3 for something bigger.
We had to swap the M3 when the kids came along. Went for an X5. Had 2 and then realised that the rear seat was not big enough for 3 child seats. All under 3.5 years old. Hence going from X5 to D3. I've not tried it but having looked at the RRS I'd guess that getting child seats to fit is not easy. I would not get 3 in. Certainly not one in the middle. New legislation comes in soon about child ages/heights and seats. Believe that this means that children not currently having to use seats will have to.
The new TDV8 engine is out for RR in November. Being shown at Geneva motor show in April. It should be made available in the RRS soon after. You may well find that those who would have bought the RRS V8 will now go for the TDV8 which is going to affect the residuals of the V8.
If the seats were not an issue for me, I'd get it swapped out and get the dealer to ensure that DVD was fitted with 2 headrest screens and something in writing that a guaranteed a buy back price in the event that I wanted to change to the TDV8 when it comes out.Gavin.
