My last trip Birdsville to Mt Dare, via QAA, French Line and WAA Line I used 116 litres (diesel). That was a mid winter trip with reasonably hard sand. My plan for the trip this September is to carry 60 litres in jerries for the Birdsville to Oodnadatta trip. 06 TDV6 SE with many LR and after-market extras. Used only on weekends and trips out west.

Fuel consumption was very high especially west of Popell Corner. I saw 25 to 30 L/100k on the readout! I took 2 jerry cans and I shared an extra one with the Jeep that was also on the trip.. In the end once we were past Purney Bore fuel consumption improved and the extra half jerry might not have been needed. Better safe than sorry though. i would say that taking 3 jerrys would be the very safe. 2.7 D4 eDiff, Traxide Dual battery, Safari Snorkel...Opposite Lock winch bar..extra set 17" wheels with 245/70/17 BFG KM2 MTs..Warrior winch..Long range tank.
