Days of a 100k being the end of a car are long long gone.

I’d agree but, if you could just explain it to the mainstream warranty companies, I’d appreciate it Thumbs Up

Somehow the market in the U.K. is skewed so that either a. JLR buyers rely on vendor/aftermarket warranties after the factory one runs out, b. most buyers rely on them across all brands.

I don’t think this exists in all other countries. Here we certainly don’t have that. Once the factory warranty runs out - that’s that. If you’re buying a used vehicle from an authorized dealer you typically get some kind of warranty (like Volvo Select, JLR Approved, etc.) but they have big limitations.

Here we consider the round figure of ~200000 km (~126000 miles) to be the magic number (or 10 years) to get rid of vehicles. As previously stated in this thread, in truth many cars run fine much after that. Particularly BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, etc.

Just saying.

Decisions, decisions. I really don't think that there's a good answer except in hindsight. I shall be in the same boat probably next year as the mileage will be creeping up to around the 100k mark. The only way not to spend big is to keep the car you've got and gamble on things not going greatly wrong. To be fair you could get a much newer D4 and find it is beset with problems. I think there's some comfort in the devil you know.
