Just lost one of my tow mirrors. |
|
New D4 pulling the caravan well at the weekend....a little too well!
Lost the passenger side Milenco Grand Aero (....at a little bit over 70 ...on a overtaking manover on the dual carridgeway - just trying to be considerate and all).
The mirrors came with the van and as the mirrors on the D4 are marginal to need extra mirrors am looking for some small replacements (instead of those massive ones).
Pehaps something like the Milenco blind spot mirror, but easier to get on and off.
Anyone use anything worth recommending?
(PS - with the amount of people who tow with D4's, why dont landrover just make an extending mirror?, push a little release button and slide the mirror out 4" - would save so much hassle - come on landrover!) Don't worry..... it only seems Kinky the first time you do it!

I'm looking for a set of small mirrors too, I was looking at the Milenco blind spot mirror but thought there was too much distortion of the rear view. I drove away with caravan in tow without extensions even though I know I need some.
I'm not sure of the solution, I'm hoping someone has the answer. If in doubt, It's time for a Cuppa.

Never had a problem with Grand Aeros, best on the market, if your concerned about losing one, try the Milenco V Pads, they grip the mirror much better than the standard Flat Pads.

LandyAndy,
If distortion is the problem try the standard Aeros with the Flat Glass instead of the Convex Glass.

Never had a problem with my Grand Aero's and I have used them on 2 Freelanders and now my Disco, I do make sure they are screwed on pretty tight though!
Land Rover do their own dedicated Disco ones although they are quite pricey at about £100 quid on ebay

When I did my D5 designs, the extending mirror was something that was a standard feature in the design I did The designs were sent to LR and in the new models of rr/rrs that have come out since there has been a number of thing on them that I had put in to my design 2009 Discovery 3 HSE - Gone

BTW guys, emailed milenco to see if you can purchase ONE complete mirror rather than £50+ for a set of Aero Grand, replied with a thread to
http://www.thecaravanshop.co.uk/
sure enough, gave em a call and for £26.50 inc p+ p got a new complete mirror coming vai postman pat 1st class.
BTW if yer towing aa wider van, then you can now buy an extended mirror arm that replaces the standard size

Guys,
I ended up buying Milenco Grand aero's, I've got to say, they are brilliant.
To make sure I don't lose them, I've tied some sailing cord to the main door mirrors and onto the Milenco's, if they should come lose, I'll not lose them and they won't break. Very worst case, you might have to Autoglym the car door if it does get scratched.
Hope it helps. If in doubt, It's time for a Cuppa.
