Just been to see a D3 v8.. Needs love
Ok, so I saw a nice v8 but it needs love.
I will be looking for a garage to remove the body, carry out extensive repairs to both chassis and body, and PROPERLY rustproof it. Then replace common components like rear arms, brake pipes etc, then fix a leaking gearbox and tbox, then recommissioned the car.
Who are the gods for this type of work?

How much love?
I’m just at the point of adding up what I need to get mine ready to receive its TDV8, and it’s a little frightening My D3 Build Thread

I was thinking the other day how much mine would have cost if I hadn't undertaken 95% of the work myself.
Transfer box may be okay. Mine leaked when I bought it but I changed all the oils and put the correct amount in the transfer box and no more leaking!
The only thing left is the treatment on the chassis but for a 13year old car it's pretty good as is.

Where's the 'nice' ? Tell us the car has only done 20k with 1 owner, been badly stored by the sea for 5 years.

What LPG system does it have and what is wrong with it? If you are stripping it off I may have it for spares to keep mine going.....

Replace all break pipes
Replace suspension arms that are easier with the body off.

No fuel burning heater on a V8.
Replace the rear air con pipes while you are at it (unless you are going to blank them and not use the rear unit).
Replace the drain pipes from the sunroof, especially the one to the front passenger side.
Unless you know there are problems, leave the wheel bearings alone. Likewise the airbags, why are you replacing them?

I wasnt sure on the FBH, but if there isn't one - I might fit one of some kind.
Thanks for the suggestion of rear air con pipes... do they all have rear air con? I don't recall seeing that the car had additional grills etc? If it could have it, I would like to fit it as keeping the rear cool is a big priority for our dogs.
Wheel bearings and bags are both unknowns, but I would like to set out on my D3 journey with new ones.
