Just watched mine being towed away. |
|
Had some problems with my car tonight and wondered if anyone else has had anything similar happen.
Started car and pulled away. The gear box didn't change down automatically , I knocked it into commandshift and could change gear manually ok. After approx 1/2 mile and accompanied by some bonging the suspension warning light, the DSC and the emergency brake assist lights all came on in amber, I also got a message telling me the HDC and special programmes were being switched off. The car lowered slightly and was a bumpy ride home. I turned off the ignition but the engine didn't turn off straight away.
Rang Land Rover assistance who arranged for car to be sent to a dealer and a courtesy car to be available in the morning.
It was very sad watching it being towed away As you slide down the banister of life

Sorry to hear that
It sounds like something has caused multiple failures, or 'cascaded' through the system. I'm no expert, but would suspect a bad connection, or duff sensor on something critical like a speed sensor or something. That sensor may send its signal to many ecu's, all of which return an 'error'
I'm sure a competent dealer will be able to trace and rectify the fault.
Keep us posted

If it wasn't for the engine not stopping immediately after key-off, i'd suspect a wheel speed sensor or the brake pedal switch..... strange one that

I thought (hoped) it might reset itself after a minute or so, so I started it up and drove around the block but had the same problem with the lack of gear change. Also had the same problem with the engine running on and not being able to remove key straight away. As you slide down the banister of life

Dealer told me that there were 3 long outstanding recalls which should have been carried out about 18 months ago, the local service centre I'd taken it to for the 15k and 30k mile services had not done this. These were relating to the suspension pump and braking system. They told me to pick it up today, but when they started it up... quote... It sounded like a tractor... unquote! So, I had to drive home in the RR Vogue (Brand new, supplied through Enterprise) and I still await further news. Just glad it happened on their forecourt!
Can't fault the service from the dealer, they have kept me informed and they are going to deliver it when it's ready to save me another trip.
PS.. everyone who has been in the RR this week have all said that they prefer the Disco! As you slide down the banister of life

I had mine in to the dealer on Monday to have the FBH fixed and a roof leak sorted (had to give them details off here to sort leak.....).
Picked it up yesterday, drove off forecourt, stopped at lights 50 yards on and got the same problems (except engine running on) - drove back rather unhappy (to say the least..)
After 30 mins, mechanic reported only error logged as being with the brake switch - he checked this and found nothing but did find a blackened stop bulb. He changed both for new bulbs and it now seems fine (100+ miles on). I'm not sure whether to be relieved it was so easy to fix or annoyed that such a small thing caused such a fault.
As Gareth says, it seems one seemingly small problem cascades through and errors several ECUs. I see no ships........

Spoke to dealer yesterday and was told that they were having problems fixing the fault and had been on to Land Rover for technical advice.
Got phone call this morning to say that they had it up and running late yesterday, but when they started it from cold today it sounded like a bag of spanners.
I'm not going to see it back this side of Christmas
It looks like I have a Gremlin in there!
I've had to change the stoplight bulbs a few times recently... put it down to cheap bulbs... I wonder if it is something more sinister and worth a mention to the dealer? As you slide down the banister of life

No harm in telling them at all. Better than not telling them I would say.

The car was delivered back today, having had the problems resolved, plus the extra work of the fuel injectors being replaced. Been gone 3 weeks.
Went out this evening to pick up my daughter, drove about 3.5 miles. When I pulled away the gearbox stuck in first again and the DSC warning light came on in amber. I stopped car, turned off engine, waited then set off again.. same thing happened with the gearbox but didn't get any warning lights. Used command shift to get me home.
HWTHSBO rang LRA who arranged car to be towed away and I am waiting for a FL2 to be delivered by Enterprise in the morning.
Has anyone else out there had similar problems with the auto box??? As you slide down the banister of life

Jan - bad start to the New Year
I seem to remember someone else having this problem but can't find the related post in Search, sorry.
maybe someone else can.
FL2? hmmm better than nothing but you should have insisted on a D3 or better (need for the space/seats/whatever)

I've told Enterprise I need the 7 seats, they only have a FL2 available at the moment.
What I really want is the problem sorting out properly on the D3. The guy from the Dealers drove it back here ok. But I'd only been in it 5 minutes when it happened again!
