Sorry for the late reply.
Normally I only take the average for the whole trip as usage fluctuates over different terrain. When I was doing some early studies I found that I may get up to 17.4 on very hilly country and down to 13 on the flat (with no wind).

Have just returned from the Sydney 4WD Show. Was not that impressed with the show - very basic and lacking in vehicles. There were more off-road camper trailers than anything else on display.
The only Disco in sight was at the Kaymar stand but then that is why I travelled the 600 km+ return journey to see.
The vehicle presented by Kaymar was a Disco III S and as I understand it, it belonged to a customer - it was not the one shown on their web site or displayed above. I was impressed by the set up, the vehicle contained a twin tyre carrier, high lift jack, extended light, HF antenna and extra fuel tank.
I was also impressed with the build quality and ease of operation of the carrier and will be looking at having the same fit done to my vehicle in the near future.
The only concern I had was how the tyres nearly completely covered the rear light cluster. The pics on here and the Kaymar site seem to show more of the cluster. The tyres on the carrier were Cooper with a large tread and this may be the cause of the coverage. However, the additional LED lights fitted to the bottom of the bar should cover any misgivings.

does the inclusion of the Hi-lift imply that Kaymar have made an adaptor to fit the D3?

I too saw the vehicle at the Sydney show.
I understand both wheel carriers are removable and the price list I have indicates a jerry can holder is available. This would be consistent with other Kaymar product.
I was also told that the bar at the show is not the current production version - there have been some improvements. Namely cutouts for use of a HiLift jack and small aluminum panels mounted to the swing arm under the tyres. Apparently the tyres cause the parking sensors to give false readings without these fitted...

Today I contacted LR Aust re warranty provisions if the rear wheel carrier and additional fuel tank are fitted. Virtually got the standard reply "If damage is caused to your vehicle as a direct result of the modification, Land Rover Australia will not warrant the repairs to rectify the concern." When I pressed for more detail all I got was "Do not exceed the weight specifications listed in the Owners Manual"
I certainly am no technical genius and am having difficulty in understanding the figures stated in the manual and how to apply them.
Basically, if I fit the Kaymar product (47kg + each carrier 24k) an additional spare wheel (30k)and a full tank of diesel in the aux tank (128 kg) how do I stand?? (no passengers)
Normally on a trip I also carry about 40 kg of spares etc in the back and the tow ball weight of the caravan is about 280 kg.
