Key Fob repair - Ebay

My key fob on my 2005 D3 stopped working today and won't lock the doors remotely 😡. The spare key has never worked since I bought the car 😔.

I've read some guides in here about splitting the key apart and changing the battery, then putting all the internals into a replacement case available on ebay, but don't really want the hassle of doing this myself.

I've found a service on ebay that will do it all for me for £36 which seems reasonable: 😀

Has anyone used these guys / would recommend them 👍?

Thanks

It is really easy to change the battery, you just need the case, battery and soldering iron unless the blade breaks in your knife and you nearly slit your wrist like me Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry

But £36 is not too bad but it looks like that is the price for the case with battery and switches will be extra so might end up being £50 or more unless its just the way they have the wording on their ad

If I was at home I would have done it for you if you sent me all the parts £14 on eBay or this actually states all included http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Land-Rover-Disco...20f8abd77d

I've just used the service in the link on dlw's post, ( PJ Keys ) quick turnaround and non functioning key now performing like new, no extra costs.

Having read about trying to replace the battery myself and fearing for damage to either the fob or my fingers/hands/arms/ thankfully chose this option.

Thumbs Up

Got my key fob back today from PJ Keys but still can't lock the car Mad Nothing happens when I press any of the buttons! I've read posts that suggest pressing any of the keys 5 times in quick succession near the ignition but that's not worked. I've taken the car for a long drive to see if the battery needed charging but still nothing Banging Head

Anyone got any suggestions as to why the key still isn't working after having the battery replaced?

I'm sorry my solution didn't work for you.

My key fob was in a well worn condition and went from being intermittent to not working at all.

On return it worked like new - so my problem must have been a flat battery.

I researched the threads on here before choosing this option, which thankfully, worked for me,

From my previous reading, a likely culprit in your case could be the green/white wire splice in the passenger side footwell. There are many contributions on here that detail how to access and repair this fault.

Good luck!

Thanks YASRR I've been reading about the splice and think that this is likely to be the problem as the passenger footwell was sodden a month ago before I got the sunroof drainage tube cleared.

Just have to pluck up the courage to train and fix it myself as it sounds relatively easy although I don't have a anything to be able to solder I'm sure I can join the wires with something else. Very Happy
