Key ring holder thingie!
First to tip of the day!!
Ever wondered why the key for a £45k car is held onto your keyring by a stupid little coil of metal that distorts and allows the key to fall off?? After mine have failed tried cable ties, string, string and cable ties but nothing seems very secure, esp considering I take the key off my ring for it's many visits for TLC!
At last an alternative! Get yea down to your local Pets at Home and obtain a ring that attaches a disk to a dog's collar! Fits a treat, with a little help from some long nosed pliers, and us strong enough to do the job. You don't even need a dog, just a smile and a tale about buying discs a while ago and loising the rings!

Local hardware, iron monger store has a parts type box with a vast variety of sizes of these rings.ATB

Confession time, nicked 2 off hounds' collars, they get the big rings that don't fit the designer mobile phone sized key! Then blagged 2 more as above.

Never keep anything attached to my car key, always seperate and on its own. Never understand these people that have a HUGE buch of keys, novelty items, etc. attached to their car key and then wonder why the steering column shroud in the car gets scratched to f k

And if you solder the rings together (after you've fitted it...), it'll never, ever come off again. Done this several times with dog collar rings 'cos they get weakened pretty quickly and you end up with a mutt without any visible ID. The rings have to be clean so that the solder will take.
Also works very well with the latch rings on SWMBO's delicate jewelry - but you have to be good at soldering otherwise you end up with blobs and whiskers rather than a discrete silver line...Club missing my D3

I use the cable tie method - only two keys on mine - and it has worked well for at least six months....

Been here and got the tee shirt!
I did a fix three years ago and its still doing well today - Just go to a fishing shop and buy their stainless steel rings - They do sizes for catching tiddlers in the park lake to pike in a pond!
Must check it out. What i have done is got a small disc and had my mobile number engraved on to it.
Just in case i dropped my keys or left them somewhere. Prompted when i found a bunch of keys in the middle of a busy road. Dropped them into a local shop. Easier if i could have rang the owner and told them where to find them.

im with aston and woody. No keys on my D3 key. I have seperate house keys so car keys stay single everytime.Current: D3 commercial
Past: but not forgotten D3 HSE x2, 5 TD5 disco2's, 1 200tdi disco1, 2 300tdi disco1 one of which was a commercial, Off roader with a rather large spec, ARB's and big travel suspension to name a few.

Just a key fob and a tag from the credit card security company.
It has a serial No and a freepost address - anybody who finds the keys can just shove them in the Royal Mail post box and they arrive back on the doormat!
