Keyed
Some cowardly loser scum has keyed 2 doors on my D3 in the station car park. A long one on the rear passenger door and 3 deep nicks on the front door.
Not knowing the first thing about bodywork, what's the remedy/how much roughly.
Thanks. Guess what, the car park CCTV uses a 15 year old VHS system Tony

If you can catch your nail in scratch then it will probably need painted, although you may be able to polish it out so that it is not as noticeable. Body shop your best bet
If nail does not catch it can be t cutted out
Silver does hide a lot

How deep? Can you feel it with a fingernail?
Rule of thumb is if you can't it will polish out. If you can it means spraying is needed. Whereabouts are you located?

And I hope the little barstewards that did it rots in hell!! Same happened to SWMBO's new (then) Jazz few years ago, no chance of finding the smeg head that did it.
It's bad enough when you get these sort of scratches when you do it yourself, but when it is someone else, it's a real pain in the .
Can't offer any advice as I've not done mine yet from last years trip to the lanes of Wales.
So, I watch this with interest - not that I'll do anything other than perhaps give it a polish - though I did wash it for the first time in ages this weekend Mark.

Makes your blood boil eh
It's amazing what someone with mopping skills can do with scratches though ..my last D3 was torn to shreds by laning rash and yet Ken managed to get 99% of it out before I traded it...nil penalty 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Thanks Guys.
I have lots of Pyrenean and other lane rash which will T-cut out but this keying is right through the paint and definitely catch your nail in it. They are pretty deep. Polish won't do anything (can't anyway as its sleeting at the moment!).
Tried an earlier scratch with a LR paint stick but colour match plus my lack of decorative skills meant it was a right bodge!Tony

I had someone key the entire length of my car from bonnet to boot about 2 years ago. Had 2 grand quote to get sprayed... suffice to say the scratch is still there...
On a previous car I was quoted £600 to respray the bonnet. Took it to chipsaway and they did the bonnet plus other dings/scratches for under £100. All colour matched perfectly so I couldn't see where any of the chips had been.

The village idiot visited my d3 2 years ago - bonnet to back door. Respray was £600.
Silver does hide a lot of scratches but it is also a pig to get a good colour match. Maybe the first stop is to speak to someone that does 'smart repairs'. They will tell you if there is a good chance they can make the scratches history without it looking obvious. This should be anywhere from £80 to £200.
If you need to get a proper respray, I suggest you find a bodyshop that really knows what they are doing. I would also strongly suggest spraying the whole side of the car, particularly if the car is a few years old as the paint won't be quite the same colour as it was when the car was new. Otherwise, the bits that get resprayed will stand out.
In my case, the scratch extended into the bonnet (side of the clam shell shape), so the bodyshop faded the respray out over the top of the bonnet, replaced the 'Land Rover' badge and door handles (they all have to come off to get a good finish and don't go back on). Result is perfect. You really can't tell there was ever a problem.
If the scratch isn't back to the primer / metal, you could try laying in a touchup using a needle and then laying in a clear lacquer coat before a hefty polishing. Although, this is very time consuming and the scratch is likely to remain visible, albeit less obvious.

Thanks again guys. I have a sneaking suspicion who may have done it. Blackvue does have parking mode enabled as haven't sorted out permanent supply but do have a bit to go on, unlike BTP! We shall see.......
Will try a smart repair outfit and hope they can do something. No point getting a total respray as I'm hoping to get some more off roading done!Tony
