| Land Rover Button On Key Fob - What Does It Do |
|
Can anyone tell me what the land rover button on the key fob does.
Can you program it to have different functions?

You can set it to turn your headlamps on or off (follow me home) OR you can set it to lower the suspension (but you have to open the car and put the hazards on, which defeats the object somewhat!) or... erm, can't remember the last one. Panic alarm?
You really ought to read that manual you know!  I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Yep and the one that's not in the manual
Opening the top of the rear tailgate - still need to pull the tailgate open at the same time as pressing the LR button though 1996 Discovery 1 300TDI ES Biarritz Blue, sold

And then it sets your alarm off as you havent pressed the normal unlock button  G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

LRA chap said that's how all the lock-outs occur. People use the LR key to open their tailgate, put everything in the boot including their keys, slam the tailgate then stand there with a  look on their faces. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

I have never done that, but I came close twice I think as my Alfa has a dedicated boot release button that leaves car locked, and you have to be real careful not to close that hatch...
Think I'll stick with the headlight option

Mine didn't set the alarm off. But it was PITA to use so went back to the "lights" option. Too much intellectual firepower can damage your common sense.

It never set my alarm off, ISTR that the alarm is disabled (sensors and rear tailgate only) until you close the tailgate again - cetainly appeared to be the case. Don't use this feature anymore though - only used it when my rear lock switch failed. 1996 Discovery 1 300TDI ES Biarritz Blue, sold
