A Landrover for my declining years.....?
After a long association with Defenders I decided to go for a Disco 3. Love the defender but long journeys were a pain!
I have had it for a week now and I am reassuringly impressed having done 600 miles in it thanks to a long trip last weekend to test it out. I bought from a good independent dealer so I have confidence Any niggles that arise will be sorted.
It's a Silver early HSE so it has enough toys to keep me happy.
Couple of things to sort:
Update to latest DVD Sat Nav Software.
Work out why after a few miles 'lines' appear on the satnav screen.
get seat covers
get roof bars
Off this weekend to race at Cadwell Park and put the towing capacity to the test with my large'ish trailer (which is why I always go for wagons with large towing capacity).
Looking forward to doing it in comfort.

So, Nearly a thousand miles (not a lot by many standards) and still very happy with the D3. Thoughts?
Wasn't happy with the hook in towbar so bought a fixed one so that I can fit my stabiliser. It was a very easy fit as well (Witter).
It is crying out for bluetooth fitting and can't decide whether to go after market of LR fit. I appear to have an aftermarket mike fitted next to the interior light housing (Having just read Wiggs voice control thread I discounted it being the voice mike as that is in the housing). So it may be easier than I thought.
Also need to sort out the Sat screen as it gains nice (or not so nice) parallel lines after it heats up? - The dealer offers a good warranty so should be able to get that sorted.
As it is getting cold started testing the heated seats but wasn't impressed with the heat level - My defender had them and there was a big difference perhaps these are more subtle than them.
Bought some factory cross bars and am very happy with the fit, not so happy with the factory seat covers which are a faff to fit and stay fitted.
However, key to ownership so far is the excellent driving position and ride (compared to my Defender 90 its luxury) although annoying clunk from the front suspension needs sorted.

Were you wearing a coat? Although, even when wearing one, I can't have the heating at full (two orange dots) 'cos it's getting uncomfortably hot. If you're going to have Wiggs about, maybe he can check it.

^^ second the above ^^ (wvlenthe's post)
I find it goes from nice warm & toasty to uncomfortable sweaty in a very short time on setting two.
Sounds like you may have a fault with yours.Clive

I've got the same problem. I've got them to fit the seats, arm rests, etc, [About 3 hours for the 1st one.] But can't get the "Velcro" tapes sorted to give a permanent fit.
Any tips, please? [Read all the diagrams.]

I've just converted from a Defender to a D3 and I know where your coming from. I tow a large horse trailer and I always thought that I would never better the trusty Defender. However, I'm really pleased with my D3 and I too have found that D3 comfort is something to be enjoyed.
I've got to say I'm pleased with my heated seats, they are just as warm os the ones on the new Defender XS that I tryed before I decided on a D3.

As the cold weather i definitely here, I was pleased that my FBH was working due to the extensive coverage on the forum
The heated seat on the drivers side is definitely not working or is intermittently (very very hot or not). It's off into the garage to be checked on Mon under warranty so hopefully that will get sorted.
Migster - I was racing a Bike engined kit car and will be racing an elise next year.
I spent a bit of time fitting a rev camera into my Defender and wanted the same facility in my D3, unfortunately, I don't want to strip the car out even though the detail is on this site (or because of it!).
I saw this on my mates D3 and as well as having gadget envy it really is a great bit of kit with very clear video feed, in colour which I can use on my D3 when hitching up, the trailer when parking up and use on the occasional van I use to tow my trailer.
So if you don't want a permanent fit this is a useful gadget which is reasonably priced albeit sourced from the USA.

I have just fitted the rest of my seat covers and still not impressed.
I'm sure it is probably me but the fit could be much better.

I notified my LR Agent of the problem, and asked for advice. "Yes, Sir, we'll check all our sources." When I called in to check, the response was basically: "Yes, us too! We just re-adjust them as and when." @ £££ - B**** Poor Show!
