Later D3 noisier than early D3.. |
|
I've recently noticed that my D3 2007 is way noisier than a 2005 that lives local to me, mine definitely sounds more ticky compared, I'm not sure if this is just mine, or if this is just a thing with the newer D3, as I'm sure I've heard another later one which is fairly noisy too.
Mines has oil change at 8/9k all its life so in theory engine should be in good order but I still think it's quite a tappy motor. However the 2005 that drove past me at the supermarket sounded very smooth.
Is this just one of those things where every motor is different? Or is it the difference from eu3 to eu4? Or any other changes between early and late?
Maybe I'm just being over the top ha

He probably uses 2SO It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

have you got the engine cover on with foam under it.
These make quite a difference.

Does 2SO make that much difference?
I'll have to check the engine covers and see about the foam.
Mine just generally sounds rattley, don't get me wrong I've not compared like for like but it was just a passing observation with the 2005.
I notice a lot driving past close walls through the village mine sounds quite rattley like noisy injectors sort of noise. Doesn't sound rattley when revved in park.
I wasn't sure if it was maybe something to do with newer engines or something silly like that, however that would be a bit of a step back if they made them noisier

If you can hear the noise at low speed when coming off the throttle past walls/parked care etc have a search for noisy torque convertor.

Did you mean normal function of HPFP or as in potentially an issue with it? Think I may have jumped the gun with my previous comment

It just had a flush and oil change on the Wednesday of last week.
I usually religiously use shell/bp, however the partner decided she would put fuel in at Sainsbury's this week, so maybe that has made a difference this time round. It'll be straight back on she'll/bp next fill up.

Bet you a pint its torque convertor noise and your engine is just fine
Mines made the t/c noise for just about all of the 3yrs Ive owned it, gearbox rebuild guy told me they all do it to some extent.

^ ha, deal.
I don't think anything is wrong, just feel like I'm noticing it's noisy from inside quite often, made me wonder if they're all like that. My uncle has an 07 S, so think I'm going to see if I can get a go in that at the weekend and compare, ha.
If it was TC noise, I'd be happy, just be nice to know if it's "normal" or not

EU4 engines can be a little noisier. Fuel pressures are higher, which makes the injectors a little noisier, especially without the injector blankets and engine cover soundproofing My D3 Build Thread
