Latest keyfob question.

Does any one know if the latest style keyfobs from land rover, the one's that sleep if they are not moved. can these be programed for used on older vehicles like the D4?

I doubt it.

The one for my D5 is the current type to try to foil the relay attacks.

It doesn't go to sleep when not moved (as far as I know), but the car measures the response time from the key to measure it's distance from the car. If the key is further away from the car than it should be, even if a thief is using a relay device to boost the signal, the car knows and won't open.

I think it would require a lot of new modules / sensors in the car to work on an older car.

YES! you can!

But you can buy only the NEW case (smaller) and puttinig the OLD electronic plate inside the new ((filing an edge of 1.0-1.5 mm)

I prefer the old big key and I did the opposite for my 2014 XXV

and ....

better way, look at here https://www.disco4.com/forum/sale-5-button...50038.html

Those aren't the latest style. I had that style with the D4.

The new ones are a bit bigger and less rounded but more importantly, they include new electronics in both the key and the car to improve security.

The new keys look like this.
