Hi Folks,
Thanks CaverD3 - my D3 is now at my dealer - Arncliffe.
Catweasel - that is the plan - I will get a copy of the rental bill faxed to me tomorrow at work.
I got a call from the dealer today: it was a faulty fuel pump - not rubber fuel line as diagnosed by NRMA. Fuel was leaking onto the hose and dripping off it.
Anyhow, 10 days to get a fuel pump in. I saw another post by Ian Mac which mentioned his was off the road for 3 weeks with the same fault. I just sent him a PM, asking what year model his is... could be a new problem - mine is a MY07, built in Sept 06.
Anyhow, I am heading to USA on Saturday for 2 weeks, so I will not miss it that much anyway.
I will see if I can pick up some rubber mats in USA - they are US$130 there, versus AU$315 here!
Cheers.
Rob

Fuel pump problem - now on two Sept 06 MY07 SE TDV6s! |
|
I just had confirmation that the first car reporting this problem is the exactly the same as mine.
A new common problem in the waiting... or just a bad batch of fuel pumps? Time will tell...

Fuel rail pressure is higher on the 07MYs, isn't it? Wonder if it's related? IE - 05 D3 TDV6 HSE - Zambezi Silver
SA - 07 VW Golf TDI - White - Sold!

I just got back from the USA and picked up my D3 yesterday.
No more ticking noise - mechanic said that was probably noise from injectors due to low fuel pressure. He also told me all the parts they have to replace in order to install the new fuel pump - quite a lot! The faulty (leaking) fuel pump was sent back to UK for investigation.
Seems to perform heaps better too.
I hope that is the end of the quality problems with my D3.
Cheers,
Rob.
